Evan McGlinn

A photojournalist for The New York Times, Getty and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Evan McGlinn’s haunting, large-scale images of New England stem from his endless roaming along the coasts, islands and backroads of New England. Armed with a 102-megapixel medium format camera, he documents—in intimate detail—a land that is a cornerstone of our nation’s history. Incorporating different technologies as well as watercolor washes and scans, he prints his work on Hahnemuhle Agave matte paper and applies a matte UV-protecting varnish to each image. He then mounts the finished work in a contemporary float frame. The end result is a striking image that has no reflection and mimics that of an egg tempera painting. He is a graduate of Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont and now lives in Seattle.
